Bagnall Beach
Bagnall Beach, NSW, Australia
Located near Nelson Bay, Bagnall Beach Estate is a coastal bushland site that is to be subdivided to create a new coastal neighbourhood.
Allen Jack+Cottier prepared a masterplan that integrates residential development with the diverse topography of the site, and implements best-practice urban design and environmental sustainability.
Working in conjunction with landscape architects, Oculus, the team reduced the footprint of the development to retain the biodiversity of the bushland. Residential precincts will be developed to the east and west, maintaining a green corridor stretching to the beach.
Water-sensitive urban design and an interconnected street pattern capitalise on the steep topography and effectively manage the bushfire risks. A public reserve, located along the ridgeline, provides a flora and fauna corridor and enhances the coastal forest character of the area.
